HR Generalist

Key Responsibilities:

Recruiting and On-Boarding

  • Perform Recruiting duties including: job posting, sourcing, and scheduling interviews
  • Manage and maintain Applicant Tracking System database
  • Provide recruiting metrics to management
  • Conduct Reference checks, Background checks, and Drug Tests
  • Verify Employment and Education for government contract positions  
  • Conduct reference and background checks and schedule drug tests
  • Coordinate Employee Referral Program
  • Notify company employees of new hires
  • Conduct New Hire Orientation and on-boarding
  • Enter new hire information into HR database and prepare personnel file
  • Report New Hires to AL DOL and conduct E-Verify

HR Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local statutes
  • Conduct legal research and provide an accurate synopsis and recommendations
  • Review, write, and make recommendations on current corporate policies/procedures
  • Administer human resources policies and procedures
  • Prepare Compliance Reports (including:  EEO, Vets, AAP, and OSHA)
  • Research, Update, and Draft Policies
  • Maintain Labor Law Poster Updates

Benefits Administration

  • Coordinate benefits for new hires
  • Assist with Open Enrollment Process
  • Make changes to employee benefits for qualifying life events
  • Provide information needed for ERISA and ACA reporting requirements
  • Contact Broker and benefit representatives regarding benefit issues and questions
  • Process FMLA leave requests
  • Handle Worker Compensation Claims
  • Coordinate Tuition Reimbursement, CSSA Cares, and Leave Donation Programs

Talent Management

  • Review/update job descriptions; create new ones as needed
  • Provide or coordinate training on various topics; track employee training
  • Collect and file Performance Evaluation forms
  • Handle or assist with employee issues, employee claims, and unemployment cases
  • Conduct investigations into employee claims
  • Draft disciplinary actions and coordinate with management team to deliver
  • Administer Employee Recognition Programs


  • Prepare separation letters
  • Schedule out-processing meetings; provide exit questionnaire and compile results for management
  • Provide COBRA paperwork to separating employees
  • Send out separation notifications

 Other Duties

  • Collect and analyze HR data and make recommendations to management
  • Prepare internal communications regarding compensation, benefits, or company policies
  • Maintain accurate and complete personnel records
  • Participate in Infrastructure and other staff meetings
  • Perform other duties as assigned




  • BA in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.; or an AA plus 2 additional years of HR experience.


  • Minimum 5 years of HR experience, to include at least 2 years in a government contracting environment
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with recruiting/staffing; high tech (IT, software development, engineering, etc.) sourcing preferred
  • HR Certification preferred
  • Experience with SharePoint and Applicant Pro (or Applicant Pool) is a plus


  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of the administration of HR programs
  • Strong knowledge of ACA, ADA, ADEA, EEO, E-Verify, FLSA, FMLA, OFCCP, OSHA, VEVRAA, USERRA, and other employment laws
  • Understanding of Federal government contracting regulations
  • Familiarity with ApplicantPro (or Applicant Pool) Applicant Tracking Systems preferred


  • Manage a broad range of tasks including: resolving complaints, counseling and/or training managers and employees regarding HR policies, and ensuring organization compliance
  • Effectively communicate, interact with, and influence all levels of management and employees
  • Work effectively in a fast paced, multi-faceted environment with rapidly changing demands
  • Work well under pressure, prioritize tasks, resourceful, and meet deadlines
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional problem-solving, planning, and organizational skills
  • Able to use sound judgment, discretion, and maintain confidentiality
  • Possess a positive, team-oriented attitude and an outgoing personality
  • Willing to work extended hours, if necessary, to meet business needs; timely and dependable
